The People at The Attain Group

The Attain Group comprises a committed group of independent telecommunications consultants with a wealth of industry experience across both the public and private sectors. Take a moment to meet some of The Attain Group's key members:


Derrick Hanson, President and Co-founder
Derrick Hanson is the President and Co-founder of The Attain Group, and was the founding partner and owner of Netricom, formerly one of Canada's largest network cabling contractors.

Derrick has been in the cabling infrastructure & telecom business for more than 20 years and has gained diverse telecom project experience through the management of various government and private sector telecommunications projects.

A Business Management graduate from the University of Carleton, Derrick is currently the chair of the BOMA Ottawa Telecommunications Committee, as well as a member of BICSI and the CRTC Building Access and Inside Wire Committee.

Robert Horne, Executive V.P. and Co-founder
Robert Horne is the Executive V.P. and Co-founder of The Attain Group. Actively involved in the telecommunications industry for more than 20 years, Robert's experience includes the evaluation, planning, design, project management and full implementation of complex telecommunications systems for a range of clients.

A co-developer and former instructor of the Network Cabling Specialist program at Algonquin College, Robert is a Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD), Network Transport System Specialist (NTS), author of industry articles and frequent speaker at BICSI conferences in the U.S. and Canada.

Dave Hanson , Vice President, Business Development (Corporate)
Dave is responsible for the business development of The Attain Group’s Telecommunication, Electronic Safety and Security, Audio-Visual and Multimedia  Engineering, Architecture and Consulting Services.

Dave has been in the telecommunications business for more than 25 years. He has gained extensive expertise in all aspects of Security Systems, CCTV, Access Control, Audio-Visual and Multimedia, Telephony, VoIP, Network, Information Transportation Systems and Wireless technologies.

Dave was the founder and owner of Consolidated Communications Inc., Netricom Inc., and, most recently, Plus Technology Group. He is both a Registered Communications Distribution Designer (BICSI - RCDD) and a Certified Professional Designer (CEDIA - CPD). He is also a member of BOMA (Building Owners and Managers Association), BICSI (Building Industry Consulting Services International), CEDIA (Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association) and CANASA (Canadian Security Association).

Bruno Dubreuil, Vice President, Engineering
Bruno Dubreuil is the Vice President, Engineering for The Attain Group Inc. and the principal Engineer and leader of our technical delivery team.

Mr. Dubreuil has been actively involved in the telecommunications industry for over 18 years in Canada and the USA. Originally trained as a telephony technician (Bell Canada), in 1994 he completed a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from The University of Montreal, specializing in telecommunications. Bruno is fully bilingual and is a licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario, Quebec and Alberta.

Mr. Dubreuil's extensive and broad experience includes the evaluation, planning, design, configuration, project management and full implementation of complex telecommunications networks and systems, involving a wide range of clients and service providers.

Christine Doyle, Senior Manager, Real Estate Services
Christine Doyle is the Senior Manager, Real Estate Services for The Attain Group Inc. Her role is to develop and maintain strong relationships with real estate owners and managers by providing telecommunication infrastructure services for their properties and clients.

Christine has over 15 years experience in the real estate industry as a property manager in Montreal and Ottawa predominantly focusing on client services, construction, project management, and office administration.

Her education credits include degrees from University of Western Ontario and McGill University as well as the RPA designation from BOMI. She is an active member in BOMA Ottawa currently participating on the Education Committee. Ms. Doyle is a past member of the BOMA Ottawa Board of Directors.

Andy Campbell, Technical Field Specialist and Draftsman
Andy Campbell is a technical field specialist and draftsman for The Attain Group. Originally trained as an Energy Management Technician, Andy has been applying his skills to the telecom and networking industry since 2000. He has particular knowledge of Wireless, IP Telephony, and Optical Networking technologies and is a member of Construction Specifications Canada (CSC).

Ben Nyveld, Technical Designer
As Technical Designer, Ben Nyveld works with The Attain Group’s real estate team to provide technical and design support to building owners and managers, their properties and their tenants.

Ben joined The Attain Group in 2010 bringing six years of experience in the telecommunications industry, including the design and deployment of a new campus-wide communication cabling upgrade project for a Canadian university.

Over his career, Ben has been a networking cabling technician, designer and cabling project manager, with experience installing communications systems on several nation-wide rollouts, high-rise government buildings and educational facilities. As a project manager, Ben is experienced in scheduling installation projects and guiding installation technicians to perform tasks to specified standards, timelines and budgets.

Ben is a Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) as well as an active member of the Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI) and the Telecommunications Project Management Association (TPMA).

Linda Kennedy, Technical Designer

Linda Kennedy joined the Attain Group in 2010 as a computer-aided design (CAD) technical resource. She has spent over 25 years working with CAD systems in various capacities, and brings her drafting experience and computer applications and programming knowledge to support The Attain Group team preparing engineering documents.

Linda's studies at the School of Architecture at Carleton University led her to computer-aided drawing. Working for structural engineers, electronic and heavy equipment manufacturers, civil and telecommunication consulting engineering firms has given her a sound background in the practices and techniques for organizing and producing documentation and illustration.
